Enhanced Travel Options for Passengers

Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand have officially reestablished their codeshare partnership, providing enhanced travel options and greater convenience for passengers flying between Australia and New Zealand. The partnership covers routes connecting Australia with Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington, and is available exclusively from Australian points of sale and origin.

What This Partnership Offers
The codeshare agreement introduces a host of benefits designed to improve the travel experience:

  • Seamless Connectivity: Passengers can enjoy the convenience of a single ticket covering both domestic and international connections.
  • Baggage Transfers: Luggage is through-checked from the initial departure point to the final destination.
  • Lounge Access: Eligible Velocity Frequent Flyer members gain access to Air New Zealand’s lounges at applicable locations, offering a comfortable space to relax before their flight.*
  • Corporate Savings: Eligible corporate customers can access exclusive discounts under their Corporate Air Agreements, adding value to their business travel. Virgin Australia’s Corporate Sales team is working closely with customers to implement these benefits.

Expanded Rewards for Velocity Members
The renewed partnership brings exciting opportunities for Velocity Frequent Flyer members, including the ability to earn and redeem Velocity Points and Status Credits on Virgin Australia-marketed flights operated by Air New Zealand.^

Additional benefits for Gold and Platinum Velocity members include:

  • Priority Services: Enjoy priority check-in and boarding, as well as expedited baggage handling.
  • Additional Baggage: Members can take one extra checked bag of up to 23kg.
  • Lounge Access: Access Air New Zealand lounges at eligible airports for a more relaxing pre-flight experience.*

Bookings and Travel Dates
Virgin Australia-marketed flights operated by Air New Zealand are on sale as of 5 December 2024, for travel commencing from 9 December 2024.
