Emirates Boeing 777 is coming to Australia

Melbourne’s connectivity to Dubai and beyond will be increased due to additional services by Emirates launching later this month. The premium carrier recently announced a third non-stop daily service between Dubai and Melbourne commencing 30 March 2025.

The enhanced schedule provides Australian travellers extra connectivity via Dubai to 27 European cities including popular destinations like London, Paris and Rome. As a result of the returned direct route, Emirates will discontinue its Dubai-Melbourne via Singapore route also on 30 March 2025.

Flight details

  • Flight EK404 departs Dubai at 9:15pm (local time), arriving in Melbourne Tullamarine at 5:40pm the next day.
  • Flight EK405 departs Melbourne at 11:55pm, arriving in Dubai at 7:00am (local time).

‘Game Changer’ Emirates Boeing 777

Excitingly, the launch of this new route coincides with the arrival of ‘game changer’ first class suites and upgraded business class on Emirates Boeing 777 for the first time to Australia.

First class suites on the 777 are fully enclosed, with floor-to-ceiling partitions and sliding doors creating your own private room while onboard. Recline in your soft leather seat to relieve spine and joint pressure or have it converted into a wide bed complete with mattress topper, blanket and plush pillow for ultimate relaxation.

Emirates has implemented a spacious 1-1-1 layout with three suites per row, and while the middle suite technically has no view, it is outfitted with ‘virtual windows’ displaying real-time HD video feed from external cameras. In other welcome features, the new suites also have their own air-conditioning and mood lighting controls to truly make the space your own. A 32” 4K HD entertainment screen with video call capability for on-demand dining and premium Bowers & Wilkins noise-cancelling headphones rounds out the high-tech touches.

For business class, the refresh includes a passenger friendly 1-2-1 configuration so everyone enjoys direct aisle access as well as a 20.7” wide seat, fully lie-flat bed, 23” HD screen, personal mini bar and a small ‘grab and go’ snack bar.

Upgrades have also been made to Emirates’ celebrated premium economy offering with refurbished seating and ergonomic upgrades. Further updates to economy-class seating and comfort, particularly for long-haul travellers, are expected to be announced down the line as part of Emirates’ multi-billion dollar Boeing 777 upgrade program.
